Central to Camp High Five’s program is its week-long residential, summer camping adventure at Camp Twin Lakes. Approximately one hour from Atlanta, Camp Twin Lakes was established specifically for the purpose of providing camping opportunities for medically fragile children.

The development of a camping program for children living with HIV/AIDS is based on the evidence that HIV/AIDS greatly influences the psychosocial adjustment of children affected by the virus. Camp High Five offers campers the opportunity to learn important recreational life skills. Camp activities are directed at helping children to increase their sense of mastery and competence, which is often weakened by living with a chronic illness.

Campers attending Camp High Five have the opportunity to be around other children with the same life experiences and will not have to feel different or strange. Sometimes, camp may be the first time that these children have been around other children living with HIV.
Camp High Five is a sleep over camp for one week during the summer. A typical camp day begins at 7am with the opportunity to participate in many fun activities. Camp activities include: archery, horseback riding, boating, canoeing, swimming, fishing, arts and crafts, goldpanning, miniature golf, music, dancing and singing, sports and games, pottery, biking, ropes course, zip line plus many other fun activities.
